16th May, 2023 - Swiss robotics pioneer ANYbotics has announced a successful $50 million Series B funding round led by prominent deep tech investors, Walden Catalyst and NGP Capital.

This substantial investment will be utilized to accelerate the company's international expansion, further develop its robot platform, ANYmal, and strengthen its leading position in the field of robotic inspection solutions.

The funding round also saw participation from other existing investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners, Aramco Ventures, Swisscom Ventures, Swisscanto Private Equity, Equity Pitcher Ventures, Verve Ventures, and more.

“This funding validates our unique approach to addressing the fundamental challenges of operating complex industrial facilities. Our legged robots have already proven their value in increasing productivity and safety,” said Dr Péter Fankhauser, co-founder and CEO of ANYbotics.

Robotic Solutions Surge in Heavy Industries

The surge in demand for robotic solutions in heavy industries, including oil & gas, chemicals, power, mining, metals & minerals, and utilities, has driven the need for innovative robotics companies like ANYbotics.

These industries are grappling with an ageing workforce and labour shortages, making it imperative to adopt cutting-edge robotic solutions to streamline operations, reduce environmental impact, and enhance worker safety. ANYbotics' advanced-legged robots offer unparalleled performance, making them ideal for the challenging and hazardous environments often found in these sectors.

ANYmal X

ANYbotics' flagship product, ANYmal X, is the world's only Ex-proof legged inspection robot. Its impressive capabilities have attracted significant pre-orders and reservations worth over $150 million from global oil & gas and chemical companies participating in the product launch program.

International market leaders such as PETRONAS, Shell, SLB, Outokumpu, Siemens Energy, BASF, and Vale have already adopted ANYmal for its end-to-end robotic inspection solutions. This robust and highly mobile platform, designed specifically for industrial use, addresses fundamental challenges in operating complex industrial facilities, resulting in increased productivity and worker safety.

ANYbotics Driving Innovation Through Research Collaborations

ANYbotics' success is attributed to its close collaborations with leading robotics research institutes such as ETH Zurich, the University of Oxford, and NVIDIA. These partnerships have enabled the company to maintain its cutting-edge technology and develop innovative solutions for the industry.

The integration of artificial intelligence and Reinforcement Learning with robotics has allowed ANYbotics to create highly robust and autonomous four-legged robots. This unique technology not only addresses the demands of industrial environments but also replaces dangerous and repetitive tasks, augmenting human workers and making industrial operations more efficient.
